We are a group of experienced, professional counsellors and psychotherapists, holding membership of UKCP and/or BACP.
We are a group of experienced, professional counsellors and psychotherapists, registered by UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy) and BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy). We work with a variety of theoretical approaches, including Psychodynamic, Humanistic, Existential, Transpersonal, Transactional Analysis and Gestalt. Most of us would consider our practice Integrative, informed by a range of models.
After your initial contact, we will invite you for an assessment provided by a senior practitioner who will help you to find the right therapist for you. The initial assessment appointment is charged at £40 and usually lasts 50 minutes. In the assessment, you can decide whether you would like to access the psychotherapy and counselling service or the reduced fee service.
Psychotherapy and counselling service
The fee for a 50 minute individual session is between £60 and £80, depending on your income. The fee for a 50 minute couples session is between £70 and £90, depending on your joint income.
Reduced fee service
We offer a low-cost service provided by psychotherapists in advanced training who are working towards accreditation. The therapists are all carefully selected and their work is supervised by one of the directors. The fee for this service is between £30, and £50, depending on your income.
We offer 6 sessions free of charge to gay men who are unemployed, on benefits or with no income. This can be extended by another 6 sessions for £15 per session. Thereafter you can access our reduced fee service and continue therapy for as long as you wish, at a minimum cost of £30 per session.
All our services at Gay Men’s Therapy are intended to be face to face services provided from our offices at 16 Upper Woburn Place, London WC1H 0AF. Due to current Covid-19 restrictions, however, all services are offered online, usually via Zoom or similar platforms.
